A clinical South Africa thrashed Afghanistan to secure a 9-wicket victory at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy stadium in Tarouba, San Fernando. Notably, this is the first time that South Africa has qualified for the final of the T20 World Cup, where they will meet the winner of the India vs England semi-final clash.

Coming in to bat after winning the toss, Afghanistan’s batting was found severely lacking against a seasoned Proteas attack and lost over the half their side inside the first powerplay. Eventually, Afghanistan were bowled out a total of 56 in 11.5 overs.

In reply, South Africa did not make any mistakes in their run chase and managed to clinch an easy 9 wicket win.
