Royals  Challengers Bengaluru managed to clinch yet another win this IPL season to keep their chances of playoff qualification alive. The Faf Du Plessis led side handed Delhi Capitals a convincing 42 run defeat at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru.

After being asked to bat first at their home ground, RCB scored 187/7 in their quota of 20 overs. Later on, the RCB bowlers were able to bring their team by bowling out Delhi Capitals on a score of 140 and clinching their 5th straight win of the season.

RCB qualification scenario:

With the win against Delhi Capital, RCB are now placed in the 5th spot at the IPL Points Table and have a chance to get to the playoffs if they win their last game against the Chennai Super Kings. However, a victory against CSK wouldn’t batter if Sunrisers Hyderabad or Lucknow Super Giants win their remaining matches and get to 16 points.

RCB will go up against Chennai Super Kings on May 18 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. By then, LSG will have finished all their IPL matches while SRH will still have a game to play in this IPL. If SRH and LSG don’t get to 16 points, RCB can qualify for the playoffs by scoring over 200 runs and winning the clash by 18 runs or more in order to edge out CSK in terms of net run rate.

CSK qualification scenario:

Ruturaj Gaikwad led Chennai Super Kings are already on 14 points after the win against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. If CSK win their clash against RCB on May 18, they will most likely qualify for playoffs this year owing to considerably high net run rate over other teams. CSK are currently on 3rd position in the Points Table after 7 wins in their 13 matches and a net run rate of +0.528.
