India vs South Africa, 2nd Test Day 2: India defeated South Africa by 7 wickets on Thursday to level up the two-match Test series 1-1. The victory surely belongs to the Indian pacers led by Mohammed Siraj, who consistently delivered exceptional spells on both days, even as Indian batters struggled to recover from the nightmare of Centurion. The extra bouncy pitch of Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town provided a clear edge to pacers with batters of both teams crumbling like cards.

Rohit Sharma-led Team India was in Cape Town with new hopes as they were looking to stage a comeback from the big defeat of Centurion. The Indian skipper didn’t have the luck on his side as South Africa won the toss, but that’s what fate had decided for India.
Batting first, South Africa couldn’t figure out what went wrong as a man named Mohammed Siraj demolished them like a pack of cards. The dangerous South African batters were looking nervous against Indian pacers as Jaspirt Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar also tabled their A game. The mighty Proteas were back to the pavilion on the score of 55, courtesy of Mohammed Siraj’s 6-wicket haul.
Now, it was the Indian batter’s chance to shine and win their glory back in Cape Town. Rohit Sharma and the young Yashasvi Jaiswal began India’s innings and the batters looked good in the beginning. But, Kagiso Rabada wanted some thrill in the game and he started with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill managed to put some runs on the scoreboard, but South African pacers were intensifying their attack. In the 34th over, something came upon Lungi Ngidi as he destroyed the Indian innings with a 3-over wicket over and India’s batting order was sitting back in the pavilion in just 11 balls after that. India lost 6 wickets in 11 balls with no runs in the phase. India was all-out on 153, a lead of 98 runs.
It’s very rare to witness the beginning of the second innings on Day 1 in Test matches, but that happened in Cape Town on Wednesday as South Africa came back for batting. The Proteas were more calm this time and by the end of the day India clinched 3 wickets at the score of 64.

Day 2 began with Jasprit Bumrah’s magic as he clinched back-to-back wickets to derail South Africa’s batting once again. Indian pacers re-created the magic on the pitch of Newland and South African batting order was collapsing again. Aiden Markram fought back with a spectacular century, but Dean Elgar’s 12-run was the second-best from South Africa. The team was all out once again at the score of 176.
Chasing a target of 79, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t waste much time as they started the T20 way. India lost its first wicket on the score of 44 when victory was not far away. Rohit Sharma played calmly from one end as India lost two more wickets from the other, but finally, the Men in Blue managed to take the game home by 7 wickets.
