Rinku Singh, the middle-order player for India and Kolkata Knight Riders , stated that his goal in senior cricket is to lift a large trophy for his team with his own hands.

Rinku, who is accompanying the Indian team to the ICC T20 World Cup as a reserve, will depart on June 1, is currently competing in the Indian Premier League on behalf of Kolkata Knight Riders. With four fifties and 474 runs scored at an average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.52 in his breakout season the previous year.

The 2024 season for Rinku has failed to impress. Rinku’s IPL 2024 has been let-down, as he has only managed 168 runs in 11 innings at an average of 18.66, with a best score of 26. This may be because of his poor form or the fact that he hasn’t had many opportunities to bat lower down the order because of his strong top order performances.

However, Rinku’s lackluster performances in the current IPL season and his inability to make the T20 World Cup main squad haven’t deflated him—he’s still as driven as ever. “Since I have played cricket, I have won some trophies at junior level. But not at the senior level. I am going to the World Cup. I want to hold the WC trophy, I hope we win. My dream is to win a big trophy for my country and lift it in my hands,” said Rinku in a video on the IPL website.

Since making his T20 debut against Ireland in 2023, Rinku has participated in 15 games and 11 innings, amassing 356 runs at an average of 89.00 and a strike rate of 176.24.

Focused on the importance that someone might be going through a difficult time, Rinku responded in a very positive way, saying,

“Time kharab uska hota hai jiske haath pair nahi hote, hamare toh hain. Hamara time kharab nahi hai.”

The 26-year-old batter discussed his emotional side, stating that although he is not sentimental, certain movies cause him to cry.”I am not that emotional. But when see movies, watch scenes that motivate me or that involve someone re-unite after a long time, I start crying. I cried a lot when I watched 12th Fail. I could relate to it since I had come from the bottom. When someone’s son does well and a movie is made on them, it feels motivating to me,” said Rinku.

At Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday, Rinku’s KKR and Sunrisers Hyderabad will square off for a direct ticket to the championship match.

With nine victories, three defeats, and two draws, KKR finished the season on top with a total of 20 points. They defeated the Mumbai Indians by 18 runs on May 11 in their most recent match. Rain forced the cancellation of their final two league-stage matches against the Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans.

Currenty Rinku is travelling as a reserve with the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup starting from June 1 onwards, is representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
