• Citroen India currently has four vehicles in its portfolio and they are working on introducing a fourth one.

Citroen India has announced that they have onboarded Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni as its brand ambassador. The ex-captain of the Indian cricket team is a well-known automobile enthusiast and he owns several iconic motorcycles as well as cars. Citroen India is currently working on launching the Basalt Coupe SUV in the Indian market.

Citroen currently has four vehicles in the Indian market. There is C3, eC3, C3 Aircross and C5 Aircross. The brand recently announced a price hike of between 4,000 to 17,000 across the models. Stellantis, the parent company of Citroen said that the price is being increased because of escalating input costs and operational expenses.

The upcoming Citroen Basalt is set to make its mark as the latest addition to the C-Cubed program, following in the footsteps of its predecessors, the C3 and C3 Aircross. Designed with emerging markets like India and South America in mind, the C-Cubed program aims to provide efficient and affordable vehicles to expand Citroen’s presence in these regions. Not only will the Basalt share its underpinnings with other C-Cubed cars, but it will also boast a shared engine. The SUV coupe is expected to hit the Indian shores in the second half of 2024.

The engine on duty is expected to be a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged engine that puts out 108 bhp of max power at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque output of 205 Nm at 1,750-2,500 rpm with the 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The torque output falls to 190 Nm at 1,750 rpm with the 6-speed manual gearbox.
